In this article, we present the findings of a comprehensive survey conducted last year on cancer screening awareness and attitudes within the UAE population. With over 2,000 respondents, this was the largest study of its kind.
Alarmingly, despite a reasonable level of awareness about cancer screening (70%), a significant proportion of the population remains reluctant to undergo screening. Reasons for this resistance include:
As a result, it is crucial that we redouble our efforts to increase both awareness and education regarding the importance of early screening.
It’s essential for people to understand that the chances of cure from cancer are significantly higher when diagnosed at an early stage. The success rate can reach up to 95% in such cases.
By addressing the underlying fears and misconceptions surrounding cancer screening, we can encourage more individuals to take advantage of this valuable opportunity for prevention and early intervention.
