You made a cancer awareness survey in UAE general population what did you learn from it?

Cancer Screening Awareness and Attitudes in the UAE: Insights from a Large-Scale Survey

In this article, we present the findings of a comprehensive survey conducted last year on cancer screening awareness and attitudes within the UAE population. With over 2,000 respondents, this was the largest study of its kind.

Awareness vs. Willingness

Alarmingly, despite a reasonable level of awareness about cancer screening (70%), a significant proportion of the population remains reluctant to undergo screening. Reasons for this resistance include:

  • Lack of knowledge on available screening locations
  • Fear of procedures such as colonoscopies and mammograms
  • Apprehension about the potential diagnosis of cancer

As a result, it is crucial that we redouble our efforts to increase both awareness and education regarding the importance of early screening.

The Power of Early Detection

It’s essential for people to understand that the chances of cure from cancer are significantly higher when diagnosed at an early stage. The success rate can reach up to 95% in such cases.

By addressing the underlying fears and misconceptions surrounding cancer screening, we can encourage more individuals to take advantage of this valuable opportunity for prevention and early intervention.

Stay tuned for more information on how we’re working to make a difference in the UAE community and help reduce the fear surrounding cancer screening.
