Joseph GLIGOROV

Dr. Joseph Gligorov is a  medical oncologist currently serving as Professor of Medical Oncology at Sorbonne University and practicing as a Medical Practitioner within the Medical Oncology Department at Tenon Hospital in Paris (APHP). He is also an integral part of the INSERM team U938 “Cancers Biology and Treatments.” Currently, Dr. Gligorov serves as the executive director of the Institut Universitaire de Cancerologie APHP – Sorbonne University.

Dr. Gligorov’s primary clinical and translational research interests center around breast cancer and investigating factors that predict patient response to anticancer treatments. His expertise extends beyond direct patient care; he actively participates in shaping national cancer treatment strategies as a member of various working groups dedicated to this field. He is also responsible for directing the Nice-St Paul de Vence conference, which focuses on developing guidelines for breast cancer treatment.

Furthermore, Dr. Gligorov co-founded and presides over the Mediterranean Association for Radiotherapy Oncology and Medical Oncology (AROMe). This organization aims to improve cancer patient care, enhance access to innovative treatments, and promote oncology education in emerging countries throughout the Mediterranean region.

Dr. Gligorov is a sought-after contributor to the scientific community, holding memberships on numerous editorial boards, advisory committees, and national and international scientific societies. He serves as a core faculty member for both ESMO (European Society for Medical Oncology) and ESO (European Society for Gynaecologic Oncology), and is actively involved in the ESO-ESMO Metastatic Breast Cancer Task Force.

His dedication to advancing knowledge within oncology is evident through his extensive publication record. Dr. Gligorov has authored over 300 journal articles, with more than half appearing in Medline indexed publications. He has also contributed to the editing and writing of several books, solidifying his position as a leading voice in the field.
